Referendum on accession to be held 7/8 June - Verheugen calls on people of Poland to participate en masse

Brussels, 23/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Polish Parliament (Sejm) has decided that the referendum on Poland's accession to the EU will be held during two days, on 7/8 June this year. By extending the ballot over two days (the first time this has occurred in Poland), there should be more than a 50% turnout, which would make the result of the referendum binding for the Polish Government.
