Frits Bolkenstein's letter to the US Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC) to persuade it not to gives its approval to an obligation for EU audit firms to register in the US

Brussels, 14/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - Following on from a request by EU finance ministers, Internal Market Commissioner Frits Bolkenstein sent a letter on Monday to William H. Donaldson, president of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), requesting that he exempt EU audit firms from the obligation to register on the American register of auditors. The Sarbanes-Oxley Law, adopted by Congress last July, sets down this obligation. The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB)...
