DEUTSCHE POST is planning to buy out the main part of the US transport express group, AIRBORNE, for USD 1.05 billion, (turnover USD 3,.4 bn, with 356 million parcels delivered by 22,000 workers in 2002) via its air transport subsidiary DHL. The latter obtained profits of USD bn in the US. DEUTSCHE POST has acquired 50% of the stake it has hitherto not managed to obtain in the UK postal services company SECURICOR OMEGA for EUR 247 million.
