Franco-Italian manufacturer of semiconductors STMICROELECTRONICS has bought the smart card manufacturer PWI - PROTON WORLD INTERNATIONAL from the Australian ERG group. The deal involves a cash payment of EUR 37 million and a payment linked to the volume of business over a ten year period.
