Brussels, 11/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - Tuesday afternoon, the European Commission was to adopt a draft regulation that would abolish preferential customs duties granted to certain products from some thirty developing countries in the framework of the Generalised System of Preferences. According to the GSP "graduation" procedure, these products are excluded from the system when they become competitive. At the same time, the Commission was to decide to introduce a "financial clause" providing fot he suspension of this graduation, when the country concerned records a fall of 10% of its GDP in a year. This decision takes account especially of demands submitted by Argentina and Uruguay, following the financial crisis
