Go ahead for UCB's acquisition of Solutia chemical units

Brussels, 03/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has cleared the proposed acquisition by Belgian pharmaceuticals and speciality chemicals firm UCB SA/NV of the resins, adhesives and additives businesses of US company Solutia Inc for $510 million. The businesses in question had a turnover of $638 million in 2001. The Commission's investigation showed that UCB's and Solutia's activities overlap mainly in resins for powder coatings, used amongst others in the construction and...
