Parliament requests more support for fish farms - against introduction of genetically modified fish in EU

Strasbourg, 17/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - By adopting, by 421 votes for, 7 against with 42 abstentions, the report of Francis Hugues Martin (EPP-DE) on fish farms in the EU, the European Parliament is calling on the Commission and Member States to enhance research in all areas of fish farming. It is also calling on the Commission to encourage the adoption of breeding techniques that respect the welfare of fish.
