Acquisition of Qinetiq by Carlyle is cleared

Brussels, 17/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised the US investment firm, Carlyle, to take over QinetiQ, a defence technology advisory body hitherto held by the British Ministry of Defence. The latter will initially keep a stake in QinetiQ but plans to withdraw in the longer term. The Commission has not noted any overlapping between the activities of QinetiQ and Carlyle.
