Brussels, 17/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - In application of the financial regulation approved by the Council in June 2002, the European Commission adopted a plan for the application of a new accountancy framework for its general accounts up to 2005. This approval was given on Tuesday in Strasbourg. The plan essentially intends to integrate all the accountancy aspects into a single framework based on twenty "International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and international standards in accountancy for cases where no IPSAS standards are available. In its plan, the Commission indicates that IPSAS standards will have to be adapted and completed in order to obtain the appropriate accountancy principles in the European Union.
