Benelux Memorandum, against a European Council president "elected outside the Council"

Brussels, 05/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - As we announced, at their summit of 4 December in Brussels, the Prime Ministers of the countries of the Benelux, Messrs. Verhofstadt, Juncker and Balkenende approved a memorandum on Europe's institutional architecture (that we are publishing in full in EUROPE/Documents, annexed to this bulletin).

In this memorandum, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands especially come down in favour of: - a Commission president elected by the European Parliament and...
