Commission launches European network of laboratories to develop and validate methods for detecting and quantifying GMOs in food

Brussels, 05/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - In Brussels on Wednesday, Philippe Busquin, European Commissioner for Research, inaugurated the setting up of a European network of laboratories to improve traceability of GMOs in the food chain and thus serve as support for implementation of Community legislation in the matter, soon ready for adoption.

The new network consists of more than 45 laboratories located in Member States of the Union whose activities will be co-ordinated by the Commission's...
