05/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - Without discussion on Tuesday, the Ecofin Council approved the Commission's decision extending until 31 December 2003 the scheme enabling nine Member States to apply reduced VAT rates on labour-intensive services, such as hairdressing, private renovation, etc. This will enable the Commission to assess the results of these provisions on employment and on undeclared work, and possibly propose a new scheme.
