05/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - MEP Olivier Dupuis (Lista Boninio), has thanked "little Denmark" thanks to whom, "for once, Europe did not give in", given that the Danish authorities decided not to extradite Chechen Vice-Prime Minister Zakaiev to Russia as demanded by the Russians. Mr Dupuis is going further still and is requesting that the EU, "offers members of President Mashkadov the opportunity to reside and move freely within the totality of its territory". Mr Dupuis has pointed out in this connection that Commissioner Vitorino had declared that Member States are able to adopt common actions and "make a common commitment to either refuse or support the issuing of visas to certain people from third countries, if they believe that this measure is likely to implement the objectives of the common foreign and security policy".
