AKP leader to be in Greece in ten days' time - Hubert Védrine says Fifteen must admit they do not want Turkey to join

Brussels, 05/11/2002 (Agence Europe) - Ecep Tayyip Erdogan, leader of the Muslim Conservative party, AKP, will be in Athens in ten days' time to meet the Head of the Government, Costa Simitis. The visit will be on the invitation of Mr Simitis, who was also the first leader to phone Mr Erdogan on Monday to congratulate him on his party's victory, it was announced in Athens and Istanbul. Ecep Erdogan said he would go to Greece above all to speak of Turkey's membership to the European Union....
