Hearing on protection of EU's financial interests does not settle debate on creation of a European Public Prosecutor

Brussels, 18/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - A hearing on the protection of the Community's financial interests and the creation of a "European Public Prosecutor", organised this week in Brussels by the European Commission, does not seem to have made the debate on the establishment of the post of prosecutor significantly move forward.

The Commission had proposed in a Green Paper (see EUROPE of 12 December 2001, p.7) the creation of a "European Public Prosecutor" responsible for seeking out and...
