Brussels, 21/08/2002 (Agence Europe) - According to Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities in Luxembourg, seasonally adjusted figures published on Tuesday 20 Augus in its "ruro-indicator" seriest, industrial production increased by 0.5% in the euro-zone in June 2002 compared to May 2002. In June 2002 and compared to June 2001, durable consumer goods registered the largest falls with annual rates of -5.7% in the euro-zone and -6.4% in the EU15. Intermediate goods decreased by 0.3% in the euro-zone and by 1.3% in the EU15. Non-durable consumer goods fell by 0.5% in the euro-zone and by 0.7% in the EU15. Eurostat notes that in Member States for which data are available significnat falls were expereinced in the UK5 (-9.5%), Belgium (-3.2%), Spain and the Netherlands (both -2.1%) recorded the largest decreases. Increases were registered in Finland (5.5%), Luxembourg (2.6%), Denmark and Greece (both 2.5%).
