Economic and Financial Committee propose ways to speed up legislative process on insurance, banks and other financial services on the basis of Lamfalussy method

Brussels, 11/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Economic and Financial Committee is to present to the Ecofin Council, on Friday, a first report on regulation, surveillance and financial stability, which proposes solutions for applying the "Lamfalussy method" to banking, insurance and other financial services. This method, which is intended to speed up the European legislative process by a "comitology" method involving the European Parliament, only applies to "transferable securities" for now.
