Council discusses latest round of financial scandals, pensions and negotiations with Switzerland

Brussels, 11/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - No decisions are expected to be taken at the first ECOFIN Council under the Danish Presidency, chaired by Danish finance minister Thor Pedersen, held in Brussels on Friday. Ministers might, however, have an interesting discussion on the impact of the Enron, WorldCom and Xerox scandals. The Commission invited finance ministers and regulatory authorities to meet together on 23 July 2002 to look more closely at accounting standards. The Council is expected...
