Commission authorises Telia/Sonera merger

Brussels, 09/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday the European Commission will give its approval for the merger of Swedish telecommunications operator, Telia and Finland's Sonera company. The two companies made a number of commitment in order to obtain the green light: Telia proposed to resolve competition concerns arising in Sweden and Finland by selling its activities in the cable television sector and its stake in the Finnish mobile telephone market.
