MPA hormone found in Belgian soft drinks

Brussels, 09/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - Belgium's food safety agency said on Tuesday it had discovered traces of a banned growth hormone (MPA) soft drinks from two Belgian soft drink producers. Both companies are supplied by the Belgian company Bioland, suspected of violating hormone legislation. The Commission was immediately informed and EU food safety experts were informed about the case at a meeting the same day, but no decision is expected in the near future.
