Parliament calls on EU to support IGAD and step up humanitarian aid for refugees

Strasbourg, 05/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - Adopting a resolution on Thursday by the EPP-ED, Socialist, Liberal, Green/EFA and United Left/NGL groups, the European Parliament called on the EU to examine how the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD)'s effotts could be supported to help Somalia's peace and national reconciliation efforts. The reconciliation conference that was scheduled to take place in April (under IGAD's auspices) will now be taking place in Nairobi in July, notes...
