Brussels, 13/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the European Commission authorised France to pay, over a four year period, national aid of 74.5 million euro to some of its apple, peach and nectarine farmers. The Commission considers that the aid is intended to adapt the sector to requirements of both retailers and consumers by enhancing the quality of French products and cutting total fruit production.
