13/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - The regulation on the introduction of double hull oil tankers in the EU appeared in the Official Journal No L64 of 7 March. The regulation transposes into Community law the agreement reached at the International Maritime Organisation, under EU pressure, after the sinking of the Erika off the French coast. In conformity with the timetable fixed at the IMO, single hull tankers will be gradually phased out between 2003 and 2015.
