13/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission presented the instrument necessary for the Community to ratify the international protocol on bio-security, so-called "Cartagena Protocol" on the prevention on biological risks linked to the cross-border movements of live genetically modified organisms. The Council's draft-decision, adopted by the College, complements the draft regulation recently submitted by the Commission to allow for the Protocol's provisions to be transposed into Community law (see EUROPE of 23 Februry, p.11)
