Calls for proposals for legal and police co-operation programmes

Brussels, 13/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has just adopted calls for proposals for five co-operation programmes between those responsible for legal and police co-operation. These programmes are aimed at networking projects, training, conference, and exchanges. Each project must involve at least three Member states or two Member states and one candidate country, other than the Falcone programme that may finance projects in which only two countries participate. The Commission can finance the cost of the projects up to the tune of 70%. The programmes are as follows:

GrotisiuesII-criminal (2 million euro): for 2002, the priorities are work on mutual recognition, legislation alignment (trafficking in human beings, terrorism, financial crime..), co-operation between States, and networking. Stop II: 2 million euro are earmarked for this programme aimed at people responsible for combating the trafficking in human beings and the sexual exploitation of children. Oisin II: 4 million euro for this police co-operation programme. Emphasis is placed on training, methods comparison, joint operations, and co-operation in several fields, including combating drugs trafficking and terrorism. Hippokrates (1 million euro) for studies and meetings on the following topics: in the field of crime prevention; feeling of insecurity, link between organised crime and crime as a whole, measuring crime, juvenile and urban delinquency, crime linked to drugs. Falcone: 2 million euro for studies and preparing pedagogic modules aimed at those responsible for combating organised crime..
