Deadlock in EcoFin Council on timetable for increasing public aid to development by Member states - Now up to General Affairs Council

Brussels, 06/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - The finance ministers of the Fifteen approved the Commission's general objectives in Brussels on Tuesday for the UN Conference on funding development (Monterrey 18-22 March), and in particular untying public aid to poor countries. They did, however, fail to agree on the firm timetable for increasing their public aid to development (PAD).
