04/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - According to Eurostat, the volume of retail trade increased by 0.4% in the euro zone and 1.5% in the EU15 in December 2001 compared to December 2000. The highest rates were registered in Ireland (9.5%) and the United Kingdom and Spain (6.5% each); the lowest was in Germany (-2.4%), Portugal (-2.3%), Belgium (-0.8%) and Italy (-0.7%).
