Mr Fischler says GMO labelling is worthless without safeguards for conventional and organic farming

Brussels, 14/02/2002 (Agence Europe) - Addressing the AGRIBEX Food Fair in Brussels on Wednesday, Commissioner Franz Fischler declared that GMO labelling, "will be worthless if we do not manage to segregate GM and GM-free on the fields of European farmers". He explained that he was in favour of implementing a policy that protected conventional or organic farming from accidental GMO contamination.
