Addressing Parliament's Monetary Committee, Wim Duisenberg gives prudent assessment of economic growth picking up in eurozone

Brussels, 23/01/2002 (Agence Europe) - At an exchange of views on Wednesday with the European Parliament's Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee, the President of the European Central Bank Wim Duisenberg said that interest rates were at the appropriate level. He gave a prudent assessment of the prospects of growth picking up in the eurozone in the second half of the year, preferring to concentrate on the smooth changeover to the euro, not being unduly worried about the price hikes reported...
