Commission makes proposals to revitalise railways by opening national railways to competition and through harmonisation of technical and safety standards

Brussels, 23/01/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission adopted a package of five measures for the liberalisation and technical harmonisation of the railways in an aim to "revitalise the railways by rapidly building an integrated European railway area".
