French telecoms equipment manufacturer ALCATEL is taking over ASTRAL POINT COMMUNICATIONS, a US metropolitan fibre optics networks company. The deal will involve 9 million shares in ALCATEL being exchanged for ASTRAL POINT, a deal worth EUR 153 million.
