Giscard d'Estaing appoints John Kerr to run Convention Secretariat

Brussels, 23/01/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, after consulting Giulio Amato and Jean-Luc Dehaene, Valéry Giscard d'Estaing appointed John Kerr to head the Convention Secretariat; and Walpurga Speckbacher to be the Head of Cabinet to the Chairman of the Convention. Sir John Kerr is a British diplomat who has held various positions at he Foreign Office and the Treasury before becoming the UK's Permanent Representative to the EU.
