Commission initiates infringement procedures against 11 Member States for negligence in implementing decision on monitoring CO2 emissions of cars

Brussels, 12/12/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Monday, the European Commission decided to initiate infringement proceedings against Austria, Greece, Finland, Spain, Denmark, Belgium, Italy, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal and Sweden, for having neglected important elements of a decision concerning the monitoring of the average CO2 emissions especially from new vehicles.

This decision, adopted in 2000, aims to gather a minimum of data to enable the smooth running of the Community monitoring system...
