Commission about to grant EUR 15 million in additional aid for Mazar I Charif region

Brussels, 13/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission is to allocate EUR 15 million in further humanitarian aid for the populations that are victim to the crisis in Afghanistan. The financing decision, which is on the point of being finalised, is imminent. The funds, allocated from the ECHO budget (EU Humanitarian Aid Office), will be intended for displaced persons in the Mazar I Charif region which has now come under Northern Alliance control.
