The Belgian firm BARCONET has just announced its forthcoming takeover by the American firm SCIENTIFIC ATLANTA ($2.5 bn turnover in the year closing July-2001 and 8000 staff). Active in the broad-band and interactive telecommunications sector, the American firm will make a 5.70 euro a share bid, valuing BARCONET at 17 million euro.
