Brussels, 13/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has cleared the acquisition by Flextronics Inc, a limited company established in Singapore and specialised in the manufacture of electronic systems, of the activities of the American group Xerox in the office equipment sector. Xerox provides the world market with products for document management, consumer products, maintenance and hiring services, financial services and externalisation. The project, notified to the Commission on 11 October this year, includes the acquisition of plans and equipment, machinery and stocks. The plants concerned are located in Brazil, Canada, Malaysia, Mexico, the United States, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The Commission did not see any competition problem as Flextronics, which currently does not manufacture any office material in Europe, will remain exposed to competition from large rival companies on this market.
