Brussels, 13/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - The 41st plenary session of the Committee of the Regions, to be held on 14 and 15 November in Brussels, will open with a speech by Jesus Posada Moreno, Spanish Minister for Public Administration, followed by an address by European Central Bank President Wim Duisenberg. The former will present the programme of the future Spanish Presidency to the members of the Committee, and the latter will speak on the theme of the euro and regional and local authorities. The session will allow the Committee to adopt around thirty opinions, from a wide range of themes, some of which are geared to reform of the institutions and to the role of the Committee, including the report by Edmund Stoiber (CSU, Germany) on preparing the European Council in Laeken, and the opinion by Luc Van den Brande (EPP, Belgium) on the Committee's participation in the EU decision-making process.
