Parliament amends proposal of regulation on statistics

Strasbourg, 29/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - With the adoption of the report by Rosa Miguélez Ramos (PES, Spain) on regional statistics, the European Parliament amended the proposal of regulation aimed at setting in place a common nomenclatura of territorial units for statistics (NUTS). The Parliament shares the objectives set out in the proposal, but considers that the nomenclatura proposed by the European Commission appears as an artificial section of the European territory.
