29/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - During a conference in Prague on the impact of EU enlargement on the Roma, MEP Jan Marinus Wiersma, Vice President of the European Socialist Party, criticised the European commission for failing to adopt a strategy for dealing with the difficult social conditions in with the majority of Roma members find themselves. According to Wiersma, a European Commissioner should be specifically responsible for dealing with these questions.
