Go-ahead for acquisition of joint control of Olivetti and Telecom Italia by Pirelli and Edizione

Brussels, 21/09/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has finally given conditional approval to the acquisition of joint control of Olivetti and Telecom Italia by Pirelli and Edizione Holding. More specifically, Pirelli will acquire, in association with Edizione Holding, Bell's holding in Olivetti; the latter currently controls 54.8% of the Italian telecommunications operator, Telecom Italia. The transaction will cost less than EUR 7 billion, after a renegotiation of the price...
