Call from several parliament presidents to abolish death penalty

Strasbourg, 22/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - In the context of the World Congress against the Death Penalty, the president of the European Parliament, Nicole Fontaine, opened a solemn session on Friday afternoon at the EP Chamber in Strasbourg. Participants also included the president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Lord Russell-Johnston and several presidents of national parliaments.
