Brussels, 22/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - The report on "The State of the European Union" by the ISAE (Institute for Studies and Economic Analyses) in Rome, will be launched on 27 June in Brussels, at the CEPS ((Centre for European Policy Studies). European Commission President Romano Prodi will attend, taking part in the debate. The report will be presented by Fiorella Kostoris Padoa Schioppa, ISAE President, and by Pier Virgilio Dastoli, Secretary General of the European Movement. It will be commented on by Rocco Buttiglione, Italian Minister for European Affairs; Charles Grant, Director of the Centre for European Reform; Daniel Gros, CEPS Director; and Jean Pisani-Ferry, Director of the Economic Analysis Council.

The Rules: Europe after Nice; - the principle of mutual recognition and the labour market in the European Union; - public service liberalisation in the European Union.
The Economy: The two years' life of euro; - taxation: fiscal competition v. harmonisation in the European Union.
The Society: Social policies in the European Union; - general economic interest services in the European Union after Amsterdam; - regional differentials and cohesion policies in the European Union.
