Brussels, 22/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - Labour MP David Miliband is to join the personalities (Jacques Delors, Jean-Luc Dehaene, Giuliano Amato and Bronislaw Geremek ) that have been asked by Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt to advise him in the debate on the future of Europe. The debate is expected to result initially in the "Laeken Declaration" (see EUROPE of 21 June, p.5, and "A Look Behind the News" of 22 June). Mr Miliband mainly served as head of the British Prime Minister's "policy unit".
We recall that Mr Verhofstadt will, for the first time, receive members of what is known as the Laeken Group, on Tuesday 26 June in Brussels.
