Commission talks to trade unions but threat of strike action remains

Brussels, 06/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - Trade union organisations could call on European Commission employees to observe a day of strike action next week, unless their demands are taken account of. Responding to the appeal of the six trade unions and professional organisations (OSP) who oppose the new proposals on staff policy adopted by the College on 28 February (see EUROPE of 1 March, p.6), the officials last Friday voted through an overwhelming majority on a strike warning.
