Mr Prodi in Beirut, Amman and Damascus for reinforcing Euro-Mediterranean cooperation and role of EU in peace process

Brussels, 12/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - During his visit to the Middle East which finished on Saturday in Damascus, after stopovers in Amman and Beirut, President Prodi met the highest political figures in Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. Though the stated aim of this journey was the reinvigorating of the Barcelona process, Mr Prodi took advantage of the opportunity to also raise the political situation in the region.
