ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) distribution

The Dutch group VOPAK (oil storage and transport: 3.5 bn euro turnover in 1999) has taken over the British distributor of chemical products ELLIS & EVERARD (£853 million turnover in 1999, with a workforce of 2,500) for £310 million, or 310 pence a share. This takeover will enable VOPAK to double its turnover in the transport of chemical products within three to five years.
