Germany's BASF has handed the sale of its pharmaceuticals subsidiary KNOLL to the American business bank WASSERSTEIN PERELLA. This sale should make the company at least 7 bn euro. BASF had a turnover in the pharmaceuticals sector of 2.5 bn euro in 1999. In addition, BASF and the Anglo-Dutch group ROYAL DUTCH SHELL are to rename ELLBA their 50/50 styrene and propylene-oxide joint-venture, so far named BASELL in Europe and Asia.
