Fischler confirms further reductions in fishing in North Sea and announces TACs for benthic species

Brussels, 13/11/2000 (Agence Europe) - During a two-day visit to the north east of Scotland, Commissioner Franz Fischler invited fishermen to prepare for the forthcoming adoption of a plan to rebuild white fish stocks in the North Sea and the West of Scotland. These stocks concern cod, haddock and whiting which are the mainstay of the Scottish fleet targeting demersal species.
