Brussels, 27/10/2000 (Agence Europe) - European Commissioner Pascal Lamy welcomed the fact that the latest divergence between the EU and China over the conditions for China's accession to the WTO have been smoothed over (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.7). Both parties may, at present, focus on the task of resolving the last multilateral problems to be discussed in coming days in Geneva. The European Commission has promised China all the assistance it can give it in this respect.
