23/10/2000 (Agence Europe) - At the PES conference in Vienna on "Rights and Values for the 21st Century", the President of the Socialist Group in the EP, Enrique Baron, said that the values set out in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights should be incorporated in the draft Statute of European Political Parties currently under discussion, so as to combat "anti-democratic forces in Europe that appeal to the dangerous nationalism of the last century".
